SERGİ HAKKINDA

Şehirler, insanlarla birlikte sürekli değişir; yüzler, sesler, alışkanlıklar ve kalabalıklar dönüşür. Bir sokaktan geçen çocuk büyür, bisiklet sürücüsü başka bir yere taşınır, tramvay seslerinin yerini motor sesleri alır. Ancak o sokakta yükselen binalar, onların kapıları, pencereleri, taş dokusu ve gölgeleriyle, tüm bu değişime sessizce tanıklık etmeyi sürdürür. Bu sergi, tam olarak bu tanıklığın izini sürmektedir. Silent Structures, insan akışının, trafik gürültüsünün ve şehir karmaşasının ortasında mimarinin nasıl kendi sessizliğini koruduğunu gösterir.

İnsanlar geçip gider, şehir hareket eder, sahne durmaksızın değişir; fakat eski taş yapılar, dar sokakların iki yanındaki cepheler, yüzyıllardır yerinde duran köprüler bu akış içinde yalnızca bakar. Ne müdahale ederler ne tepki verirler; sadece kayıt tutarlar, görünmez bir hafıza gibi varlıklarını sürdürürler. Bu nedenle şehirler çoğu zaman insanın hafızasına mimari üzerinden yerleşir. Bir kapı tokmağı, bir kemer formu ya da bir pencereden yansıyan ışık hem geçmişin hem de bugünün tanığı hâline gelir. Bu sergideki yapılar, hareketin içindeki bu “sessiz sürekliliği” hatırlatır; kalabalıklar içinde bile bir yalnızlığın, gürültünün ortasında bile bir durağanlığın mümkün olduğunu gösterir. Silent Structures, değişen yüzlerle değişmeyen taşlar arasındaki ilişkiyi görünür kılmaya çalırken izleyiciyi bu sessiz tanıkların izini sürmeye davet eder. Almanya, Belçika, Fransa, Hollanda, İsveç ve İsviçreden toplam 43 fotğrafın yer aldığı bu sergi Otherside Stries isimli serinin ikinci sergisidir. İyi seyirler...

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

ities change constantly along with the people who inhabit them; faces, sounds, habits, and crowds transform over time. A child walking down a street grows up, a cyclist moves to another place, and the sound of trams is replaced by the hum of engines. Yet the buildings that rise along that street—with their doors, windows, stone textures, and shadows—continue to bear silent witness to all this change. This exhibition follows precisely that trail of witnessing. Silent Structures reveals how architecture preserves its own stillness amid the flow of people, the noise of traffic, and the chaos of the urban environment.

People come and go, the city moves, and the scene changes without pause; but old stone buildings, the façades lining narrow streets, and the bridges that have stood for centuries simply watch. They neither intervene nor react; they only record, sustaining their presence like an invisible memory. For this reason, cities often anchor themselves in our recollections through their architecture. A door handle, the curve of an arch, or the light cast from a window becomes a witness to both the past and the present. The structures in this exhibition remind us of this “silent continuity,” showing that even within crowds a sense of solitude is possible, and even amid noise a moment of stillness can exist. They remind us that while people pass by, architecture remains.

Silent Structures seeks to reveal the relationship between changing faces and unchanging stones, inviting viewers to follow the traces of these silent witnesses. Featuring a total of 43 photographs captured in Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland, this exhibition marks the second chapter of the series titled Otherside Stories.
